About the Workshop
Develop your existing therapy skills with this professional Lymphatic Drainage workshop, designed for qualified therapists who wish to gain a thorough understanding of the lymphatic system and learn safe, effective practical techniques.
This course is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and combines in-depth theory with extensive supervised hands-on practice and 18 documented case-study treatment sessions.
The lymphatic system plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance, supporting immune function and transporting lymph throughout the body.
Lymphatic Drainage uses gentle, rhythmic and specifically directed techniques designed to encourage the natural movement of lymph through the superficial lymphatic pathways.
Effective lymphatic work requires much more than simply learning a routine. Therapists need to understand the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, the location and direction of the lymphatic pathways and the importance of working in the correct sequence.
Throughout the workshop, students will develop both their theoretical knowledge and practical skills, learning how to adapt their treatment to the individual client.

Anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system
Formation and composition of lymph
Lymphatic capillaries and vessels
Lymph nodes and their functions
Lymphatic trunks and ducts
The direction and flow of lymph
The relationship between the lymphatic and circulatory systems
Principles of Lymphatic Drainage
Appropriate pressure, rhythm and direction
Practical drainage techniques for different areas of the body
Treatment sequencing
Client consultation and assessment
Contraindications and precautions
Adapting treatments to individual needs
Treatment planning and aftercare
Extensive supervised practical work
Case Studies
Learning continues beyond the classroom-based training.
Following the practical workshop, students are required to complete 18 documented case-study treatment sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity to consolidate the techniques learned during the course, develop confidence and demonstrate the ability to plan and carry out Lymphatic Drainage treatments appropriately.
All 18 case-study sessions must be satisfactorily completed and submitted to Greenhouse Therapies before the final course certificate is awarded.
Entry Requirements
This is a professional development course and students must already hold an appropriate Level 3 massage/bodywork qualification or equivalent.

Small Groups – Hands-On Learning
At Greenhouse Therapies, our emphasis is on understanding what you are doing rather than simply memorising a routine.
Training takes place in small groups, allowing plenty of time for individual guidance, correction and supervised hands-on practice.
Students are encouraged to understand the lymphatic pathways and the reasoning behind the techniques so that they can make informed decisions when working with individual clients.
FHT Accredited Training
This Professional Lymphatic Drainage Workshop is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT).
Following attendance at all required training days and satisfactory completion of the 18 required case-study treatment sessions, students will receive their course certificate.
