About this course
This 1-day course is intended for those qualified and experienced in the treatment of musculoskeletal injury. Particular emphasis will be given to the application of interferential, tens and muscle stimulation for the treatment of swelling, pain and muscle atrophy. The course is a natural progression for those who already practice manual therapy or who have previously undertaken study in the use of therapeutic ultrasound.
Entry requirements
- Learners must have a L4 or above Sports Massage / injury qualification.
- Learners must be studying a L4 Sports Massage course or equivalent.
- Alternative qualifications may be considered.
Content
- Client suitability & contraindication to treatment
- Advantages and disadvantages to treatment
- Dermatome, Myotome and Sclerotome levels of involvement
- Acute and chronic pain management
- Muscle stimulation to assist the healing process
- Machine parameters (pain gate mechanism and / or the opioid system)
- Application of tens & IF therapy
- Home care advice
Assessments
- Practical observation
- 1 x multi-choice paper
Course delivery
- The course comprises of lectures and practical application
- Either a Saturday or Sunday (Date TBC)
