Mindful Meditation – freedom from stress

A radical way of improving your health and wellbeing.

A Mindfulness training course, (sometimes referred to as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, MBSR) provides an unique opportunity to explore the benefits of mindfulness meditation and discover why taking an active approach to looking after our mind is as essential to our health and wellbeing as diet and exercise.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a natural state of mind – focused, present and aware. Being deeply attuned to yourself, your environment and those around you from moment to moment. Rooted in ancient meditation traditions, mindfulness can be learned and practiced by anyone, whatever their age, cultural background and is ideal for beginners.

Over the course of eight weekly sessions, you will learn how to experience each moment of your life in ways that bring you a greater sense of clarity, calm and kindness – enormously useful if you have a tendency to get stuck in ways of thinking and behaving that brings distress. This supports long-term changes in how you approach life, enhancing mood, confidence and general wellbeing.

Some of the benefits of Mindfulness Meditation training include:

  • More energy and enthusiasm
  • A greater capacity for relaxation
  • More self-confidence
  • An increased ability to handle stressful situations

Course content

The courses last eight weeks, and comprises of a 2½ hour weekly session usually in the evening.

Over the weeks we will practice a range of mindful meditation practices and also undertake several exercises aimed at increasing awareness of the stress response and our responses to pressure. It is expected that participants will undertake daily practice of up to 40 minutes, in between weekly sessions, in order to build up a regular practice and increase self-awareness. The course provides a full set of notes and workbook as well as a set of CD recordings of all the meditation practices. Ongoing personal support is also provided.
